North window in November
From mid-October the north window in hall C stops pretending it is summer. The courtyard wall opposite goes grey. Skin needs a half-stop more, and the cyclorama reads as paper, not as a glow. This is the season we prefer for catalogues: no hard patch on a shoulder, no bounce that turns wool yellow.
We open the blind fully until 11:30, then drop it a third so the window does not clip. The 2k stays off unless a dark coat eats the edge. If a brief asks for “bright summer” in November, we say no and offer a recce in June, or we light it as November and write that on the estimate.
Last week a rail of 14 coats sat from 09:40 to 16:10. The 11:00 slot was the cleanest. After 15:30 the courtyard went green from a neighbour’s lamp. We wrapped rather than correct it in finishing. The folder still went out on the Friday as written.
